About Lakefe
Since 2011, we have been designing and manufacturing mobile office desks that combine functionality with adaptability. Based in London, our workshop focuses on creating furniture solutions tailored to modern workspace requirements.
Our Beginning
Lakefe started when three furniture makers in North London noticed a recurring request from local businesses: office desks that could be easily moved and reconfigured. Traditional fixed furniture wasn't meeting the needs of companies that frequently reorganized their spaces or operated in flexible work environments.
We established our workshop on Liverpool Road with a straightforward objective: produce custom mobile office desks using quality materials and precise joinery. What began as a two-person operation handling five orders per month has grown into a team of 12 specialists completing over 80 custom projects monthly.
Our furniture is built in our London facility using locally sourced timber, commercial-grade casters rated for 150kg loads, and powder-coated steel frames. Each desk undergoes stability testing and receives a three-year structural warranty.
What Drives Our Work
We manufacture furniture that serves specific purposes. Mobility isn't just about adding wheels—it's about weight distribution, brake reliability, and ensuring the desk remains stable during use. Our designs account for cable management in mobile setups, surface durability for frequent repositioning, and height options that suit different work styles.
Every project begins with measurements and usage requirements. We discuss load capacity needs, floor types, doorway widths, and storage requirements. This information determines frame construction, caster selection, and surface materials. A desk for a design studio handling large format printers requires different specifications than one for a consulting firm's hot-desking area.
Our Approach to Manufacturing
Material Selection
We use FSC-certified hardwoods, 18mm commercial plywood for work surfaces, and steel tubing with 2mm wall thickness. All finishes are water-based and meet VOC standards for indoor use.
Customization Process
Dimensions, surface materials, caster types, and cable management options are determined based on your workspace measurements and equipment requirements. We provide technical drawings before production begins.
Quality Standards
Each desk is assembled using mortise-and-tenon joinery for frame connections, tested with distributed loads, and inspected for surface finish quality before delivery to your London location.
Transparent Communication
You receive production timelines, material specifications, and weight capacities in writing. Installation instructions include floor protection recommendations and maintenance guidelines for casters and surfaces.
Our workshop operates Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours for client consultations. We maintain an inventory of standard components while sourcing specialized materials as projects require. Delivery within Greater London typically occurs within four weeks of order confirmation, with installation support available for multi-desk configurations.
